The DCOMP Program Committee invites you to submit short proposals for Focus Session topics and speakers at the 2013 APS March meeting (Mar 18-22, 2013, Baltimore, MD).
Topics of current interest, both practical and theoretical, will be much appreciated, as will nominations of first-rate speakers who represent a diverse cross section of the physics community. Focus Sessions include a combination of 1-2 invited talks and contributed talks which have been submitted to the focus topic sorting category. For additional information, see: http://www.aps.org/meetings/policies/focus.cfm
Proposals for Focus Sessions should be emailed by June 30, 2012 to Tim Germann (tcg@lanl.gov). These should include, at a minimum:
(i) focus session topic title and description (no more than 200 words);
(ii) focus session organizer(s) and contact information; and
(iii) suggestions for 1-2 invited speakers and reasoning (no more than 150 words per speaker), and their contact information.
In addition, the following information may also help the Program Committee:
(iv) references to 2-3 papers for the general topic and references to 2-3 papers for the speaker(s); and/or
(v) suggestion for another APS unit (division or topical group) for cosponsorship, if appropriate.
We look forward to receiving your suggestions!
